Here you will find various comments from exhibitors and institutions
Husum WindEnergy was a complete success! For the wind industry in general and for Vestas Central Europe in particular, because the high level of internationality reflects our strategy. The charm of this leading international trade fair is unique. And it has to be preserved, and not endangered by too much growth. I’m sure this will be possible! We’re looking forward to 2010! |

For Siemens Wind Power this year showed once again that HUSUM WindEnergy 2008 is a professional platform for encounters, discussions and successful wind deals. On Tuesday morning Siemens and E.ON successfully kicked off the wind fair by signing a skeleton agreement for the supply of 500 wind turbines with a total capacity of 1,150 megawatts. The stampede of trade visitors from all over the world - especially from the new markets in Eastern Europe - show that HUSUM WindEnergy is becoming more and more attractive internationally. But thanks to the amendments to the German renewable energy law there is also a mood upswing in the German marketplace, and talks concentrated on repowering and offshore wind turbines. The outstanding feedback at the Windcareer job fair on Saturday created a very positive finale. |

For us, Husum WindEnergy is the most important trade fair for the industry. This is also reflected in the numerous enquiries about national and international projects and questions about the technical management of wind turbines. We were also able to have plenty of discussions with turbine manufacturers. And staff acquisition is also taking on a more significant role. All of these are themes to be found at Husum. |

We were very satisfied that the suggestion made by manufacturers worked, that the turbine manufacturers should be spread out through various halls this year. This had a very positive effect on the visitor flow. But further growth of the fair must not be at the cost of quality |

HWE was a very successful fair for WPD. In my opinion the new idea of taking the turbine manufacturers out of Hall 1 and distributing them throughout the other tents worked. The increased number of international exhibitors and guests was very noticeable. But two fundamental infrastructural issues will have to be sorted out by: toilets and air-conditioning |

From my point of view, HUSUM WindEnergy 2008 was a complete success in every respect. This goes for the fair in general and also the joint Schleswig-Holstein stand organised by the Windcomm Schleswig-Holstein Network Agency in Hall 4. The companied on our stand reported a large number of enquiries and talks with customers, resulting in a very positive conclusion. The outstanding overall success of the trade fair is confirmed by the fact that the number of visitors once again exceeded all expectations. The increasing number of international visitors and visiting delegations once again emphasises HUSUM WindEnergy’s position as the leading international wind energy trade fair. |

This year’s HUSUM WindEnergy reflected the excellent mood of the wind industry. The wind sector is booming. Manufacturers and suppliers are working at full capacity, and the order books are full. And because of the strongly expanding world market the prospects for the future are excellent. The companies expressed great satisfaction with the fair. Trade visitors from all over the world caught up on the latest technological trends and product developments. The quality of the contacts and discussions was at a very high level. At HUSUM WindEnergy 2008 one could observe that the wind industry has become a steadily growing economic factor, and that German firms are world leaders in this sector. |

Our stand was just as we’d booked it. Setting up our 8-metre, 500-kilo tower went very quickly and without a hitch, with active help from all sides. The fair was better than expected and the dialogues we had will keep us busy into 2009. Well-organised, quick, friendly und uncomplicated, is how we’d sum up the fair and the staff in general. For us the special atmosphere in Husum has created the basis for good deals and a unique mood. |

The whole world was in Husum. For us it was a very good fair. Very interesting new contacts to international investors and planners have shown us that Husum is still unique worldwide. We also had the opportunity to meet many of our long-time customers. |

Husum WindEnergy 2008 has once again shown that this fair in the north of Germany is one of the most tradition-steeped industry fairs. Nordex used its exhibition appearance to intensify existing contacts to our domestic and foreign customers, and to initiate new business contacts. The fair showed the company’s international market position. Besides customers from Germany, we also received visitors from the UK, Scandinavia, France, Italy, China and overseas. “We are thoroughly satisfied with our appearance at the fair. All our domestic and foreign customers showed great interest in our N100 turbine”, said Felix Losada, the Nordex spokesman. |

“We were particularly pleased that we had twice the number of visitors at our stand this year than we had in 2007”, reported Ingrid Brand-Friedberg, managing directorof August Friedberg GmbH, “ and this shows how important connecting elements have become and will continue to be.” “As one of the original suppliers to the industry we want to continue setting standards, and supply our customers with the same security and quality in even larger quantities”, said Martin Jaeger, sales department procurist. Summing up one can say that Husum WindEnergy 2008 was a complete success and we have already booked our stand for 2010. |

For WKN Windkraft Nord AG and the other firms in the House of Future Energies, HusumWindEnergy 2008 provided good contacts, and once again proved itself to be an excellent platform for highly professional discussions and also for the legendary parties. |

“A massive success” was how Peter Becker, general coordinator for energy issues for the Schleswig-Holstein Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK). Together with other economy promoting institutions, the IHK has managed to show what an effective and productive business base Schleswig-Holstein is for the wind energy sector. besides establishing contacts with businesses, giving advice on business base issues, subsidies, settlement of businesses and technology transfer, special focus was on the subject of training and retraining. At the associated Windcareer job fair over 100 persons expressed interest in the training courses in the wind sector, and the courses offered by the IHK Wirtschaftsakademie. “The curricula developed for this subject in Schleswig-Holstein are attracting worldwide attention. It is therefore hardly surprising that numerous Asian delegations, especially China and Korea, are interested in this subject,” explained Becker. The fair was also of great interest to delegations from North America, who were particularly interested in communal wind farms as an investment form. Becker continued “We are pleased to be able to introduce these delegations to competent contacts, sop that the wind industry can also continue to grow in these areas.” |

HUSUM WindEnergy 2008 took place at a time of energy policy extremes. On the one hand, completely new chances are opening up for a sustainable energy landscape ahead. On the other hand, the lobbyists for conventional energy are fighting worldwide for a ‘renaissance’ of the customary energy sources - and their risks. Forwards into the past or back to the future? Today in Husum the wind industry is moving in this spectrum of political positions and technical issues. And the fair is more international, stronger more diverse than ever before - but despite its enormous growth it has kept its special flair. |

This has been a very good show. I would guess we’ve gotten 75 excellent leads, so I’m sure we’re going to get some very good business out of the show. I already signed up for 2010. |

The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) participated in Husum WindEnergy 2008 as the exclusive international partner for the second time this last week. As last year, we had a very successful experience at Husum WindEnergy. We were able to make several important new contacts, hold some meetings onsite and promote our upcoming event in China to several thousand people. It was a great chance to get a lot of business done in five busy days. Also, this year we again enjoyed the hospitality of the Husum people. We had excellent dinners with business contacts at different seafood restaurants downtown Husum, and the Wind Wanderers party on Friday was a great chance for everyone to relax and celebrate a successful event while enjoying a few German beers. All in all, Husum WindEnergy 2008 was a successful event for GWEC. |

The Husum show is always very interesting. Many, many big players are here and the family atmosphere is very much appreciated. We have been able to go into many discussions with customers and potential customers. It’s good to be here and we will be back in 2010. |

I go to all the shows around the world, and this is my first time in Husum. It’s a big show and very productive with different groups of people. It’s been very good for us. We’ve made a lot of good contacts. We’re in transportation, so we want to make contacts with people who need to move wind energy components. Many companies in Europe are selling to the U.S. market, and they are very excited to see that we and our German partners, Coli Shipping and Transport, can deliver their products when they come to the States. |

We have had a lot of inquiries, and a lot of people have shown interest in buying our turbines. Many developers and financial investors have come to us. The interactions have been very encouraging, and that only puts more pressure on us to expedite our development programs and increase our volumes. At the same time, we’ve made connections with many suppliers who are interested in forming partnerships with us. That’s important, because we have to be cost competitive to maintain our bottom line in this market. |

We’ve been doing good here. Even for the U.S. side of it we’ve made a few contacts, mostly with people I’ve already known who are in Husum. It’s been good for us before, it’s good this year and we’ll definitely be back. |

The bottom line is that our goal was to get the word out that we’re a serious manufacturer of gear boxes and to introduce the IntegraDrive, our new integrated gearbox and generator. That’s worked out, and we’ve had a great response. I think we’ve averaged at least 300 visitors to our booth a day at least. I’d say of those, 10 to 15 of them who are people who are truly interested, potential customers who ask questions and visit with us for 15 minutes to half an hour. We’ve even signed two contracts with new customers during the show. |

Seforge is a greenfield foundry and forging company in India. We just started production, and this is our first appearance at the Husum show. The response from customers and exhibitors has been great, and we’ve already rented a larger space for the 2010 show. It’s been a great experience, not only in the quality of visitors but in the number of footfalls, the number of people who come into our booth. We hope to continue to grow with the wind industry and with HUSUM WindEnergy. |

It’s a very good show and there are very many visitors interested in bolts and nuts for wind turbines. That’s why we’re here. We are making many good contacts and it will be valuable to our company. |

We are an international engineering company that focuses on the hydraulic tightening of bolts in industrial turbines and towers. We’ve had quite a good result, business-wise. Lots of existing customers have come as well as people interested in our new product. Also, we’ve learned what companies are available to do business with, so we expect good results for our company. We’ve come to the show for 10 years, and expect to keep on coming. |

UK Renewables brought in nearly 40 companies engaged in renewables, and they’ve been very, very busy. Some of them are new to the industry, some of them have come to get a first taste and they’ll be back. Others have many old friends here and really benefit by reconnecting with them here. HUSUM is still the best show for this sort of thing. We do many shows, and HUSUM is the one with the most nuts-and-bolts things going on. A lot of other shows focus on policy, R&D, stuff like that. HUSUM is the real ‘hands-dirty’ show of the wind industry, and that’s why we like to bring companies here. |
