For the first time ever, the whole wind energy sector will come together on the morning of 21 September for the festive opening of HUSUM WindEnergy 2010 in the new Husum congress and event centre with a glamorous event for up to 400 attendees. Presidents of the most important wind energy countries and important industry representatives will officially open the fair in festive surroundings, and in the presence of international media representatives.

The traditional reception given by the town, organised in association with Messe Husum, marks the start of the evening events in fair week. The reception on 21 September is where the wind industry traditionally meets representatives from the fields of politics, business and society for an informal get-together in Husum’s town hall on the harbour.

Husum’s new congress and event centre will be completed in Autumn 2010, right next to the Husum exhibition halls. The established programme concept of the HUSUM WindEnergy congress, with its daily international events, scientific conferences, and hourly changing “company innovations” programme will be continued in these modern, comfortable function rooms with great success. Congress visitors can find out about the latest wind energy topics and trends, which will be presented and discussed at over 60 specialised programmes by around 150 speakers from all over the world. This is where the world’s leading enterprises will be showcasing their latest developments.

HUSUM WindEnergy presents the 1st Wind Soccer World Cup! On the evening of 22 September 2010 staff of companies from the various countries exhibiting at the fair will battle for the 1st Wind Soccer World Cup in the shape of an indoor tournament. The companies will not be playing against each other, their employees will be playing in the different national teams.

"One party, several venues" is the motto of this year’s Windwander Party. At least 8 bands will be performing at as many different venues around Husum harbour on Friday 24 September – an invitation for visitors, exhibitors and friends of HUSUM WindEnergy and all townspeople to party together.

There is already an enormous demand for qualified staff, and in the light of the advance of environmentally friendly technology this number is be expected to rise significantly.
