The women of the US wind energy industry have shown
how it’s done! They founded the association and the "Women of Wind
Energy" network two years ago, in order to promote careers for women in
the wind industry. HUSUM WindEnergy 2010 supports these activities, and together with the American "Women of Wind Energy" is now also establishing a businesswomen’s network for the wind energy industry in Europe. This network aims to support communication between members, and should especially be used for entry into the industry and for a successful career.
The aim is to encourage a larger number of qualified women - especially from the technical professions – to become professionally involved in the wind energy industry. For example, the Women of Wind Energy’s "mentoring relationship" programme aims to set up mentoring relationships between career-starters and mentors, so that the beginners can profit from the mentor’s experience, and so that they can learn about the special qualifications required by the industry.
